New Migration Patterns Require Paradigm Shift
Research commissioned by the Foundation has just been added to the website of the North-South Institute (NSI). The study was undertaken by Dr. Rudi Robinson a senior researcher at NSI. Dr. Robinson’s detailed report argues that globalization has substantially changed immigration patterns over the past three decades. The resulting emergence of “transnational communities” has important implications for Canadian domestic and international policy. If better understood, these new patterns of migration have the potential to enhance economic growth and poverty reduction in the countries and regions of origin.
